From A 3-Month-Old Business To A 6-10 Person Crew
Kristian's concreting company, based in Melbourne's west, was only a few months old when he found Lead Partners Direct through a Facebook ad. Before that, marketplace sites like HiPages meant competing against several other concreters quoting the same job, up against people "paying stuff-all for their marketing" and others quoting for less - too much competition for a new business to handle.
What held him back at first was the same thing that holds a lot of tradies back: the discomfort of selling. "I guess I thought, stuff it, I'm just gonna trust him. I'm just gonna go for it, even if it's for a month, and see what happens."
Nine Months In
A 6-10 Person Crew, Projects Galore
Nine months on, Kristian's crew has grown from working solo to six people, sometimes up to ten with subbies on bigger projects. He's now getting these calls and leads directly - no longer having to go through other platforms to reach customers - and is looking at a factory and more equipment to keep up with demand.

Hi, I'm Kristian. I'm from a concreting company based in Melbourne's west. It was a pretty new business - probably only operating for about three months. If you go to HiPages, or a big marketing firm or whatever, the way they usually work is they have the job listed and there's three other people versus you on that same job. You're already going against people that are paying stuff-all for their marketing, and people who are quoting for less. It was too much, sort of, competition for me.
How did your journey start?
I think I reached out to your Facebook ad, and then after that it probably took a week or two for you to set up. After quite a lot of guidance and a bit of help from you, you've given me these leads where I'm getting these calls now, and I'm able to contact people directly without having to go through these other platforms. It's really helped a lot.
When you think about starting up, what was the biggest thing that held you back from getting going with us?
You gotta think about it from your point of view - you try to do that every single day, tradesman or someone else. You're trying to sell someone else something you do, yeah, and you're scared because you don't know what's out there. But once I finally got through that patch, I guess I thought, stuff it, I'm just gonna trust him. I'm just gonna go for it, even if it's for a month, and see what happens.
How's it been now? How long have you been going?
Probably nine months, man. There's about six of us now, and it gets up to about 10 sometimes with subbies. Projects galore. Getting to the point where I'm gonna get a factory, gonna get more room, more space, more material, more equipment - everything like that. Kind of need to slow down for me, mate, haha.
So just seeing everyone - all the other people, the leads we send you - is it worth it?
